Adaptive virtual inductance control of DFIG-based wind turbines during weak AC grid

The interaction between doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based wind turbines and weak grid can cause significant instability issues. A virtual inductance control strategy, which utilizes fixed control parameters, has been suggested to enhance system stability. However, the influence law of virtual inductance values on system stability has not been studied, and the adaptability of virtual inductance control to weak grid is limited. To address this issue, the influence of virtual inductance parameters is analyzed using the generalized Nyquist stability criterion. In view of the limited stability enhancement capacity of conventional virtual inductance control, an adaptive virtual inductance control strategy is proposed. Both simulation and experimental results confirm the efficacy of the proposed control strategy in significantly improving system stability.
