A RARE-MUSIC Algorithm for Near-Field Target Localization with COLD-FDA-MIMO Radar

A rank-reduced MUSIC algorithm for near-field target localization with a Co-centered Orthogonal Loop and Dipole Frequency Diverse Array Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (COLD-FDA-MIMO) radar is addressed in this paper. The formulated near-field target localization problem is handled by sub-optimal design method based on the RARE criterion. The resulting locators demand, the solution of a box-constrained optimization problem for which parameter separateness and iterative techniques are exploited. Besides, the performance of the RARE-MUSIC architectures, which can reduce the computational complexity greatly and also have the same performance compared to the 5D-MUSIC algorithm, is evaluated via Monte Carlo simulations and compared with the benchmarks in Cramér-Rao Bound.
