Design and Implementation of Low power Multi-Output Flyback Converter for Nano-Satellite Applications

The rise of space technology spurred the development of an efficient, reliable, lightweight, and small power supplies. Researchers and engineers in power electronics injected new ideas, resulting in the creation of switch mode power supplies. The analysis and design of DC–DC converters with isolation transformer can provide high efficiency, small size, and multiple outputs with different magnitudes and polarities. The flyback converter is a popular isolated DC-DC converter used for regulated output voltage in low power applications. It is commonly used in space technology and industrial power electronics systems to maintain constant voltage. These converters are widely used in industrial automation, digital systems, and charging stations. This paper examines the Multi output Flyback converter as a low voltage, low current with low ripple power supply. The converter operates at 100kHz. Low Dropout Regulators are used for post regulation at the secondary side to improve line, load, and cross regulation. The experimental results of the converter producing triple outputs of 3.3V/500mA, 5V/1A, 6.9V/1A successfully obtained and the operation of the converter with solar panel battery is analyzed from an input voltage range of 12V to 16V with greater than 75% efficiency at full load.
