Novel Maximum Power Point Tracking Implementation Using Satin Bowerbird Algorithm

Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) plays a crucial role in optimizing the efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) systems. However, existing methods may encounter challenges in scenarios such as irradiance variations and partial shading, leading to nonlinear PV system outputs, which, in turn, hinder the extraction of maximum power and optimal efficiency. Metaheuristic algorithms have emerged as promising solutions, particularly in the realm of optimization. This study introduces a novel metaheuristic algorithm known as Satin Bowerbird Optimization for MPPT in PV systems. To assess its effectiveness, simulations in MATLAB and Simulink were conducted, comparing it with three other established metaheuristic approaches for MPPT. The proposed algorithm outperformed the alternatives, achieving an impressive efficiency of 99.4%, a maximum power voltage of 213.5V, minimal power ripple under steady-state conditions, and the shortest settling time. These results highlight the superior performance of the suggested algorithm in enhancing PV system efficiency.
