A Compact CSRR Loaded 4-Port MIMO Antenna for V2X Communication

This work presents a 4-port compact ($\lambda\times\lambda\times .029\lambda$) MIMO antenna Operating within the DSRC (Dedicated Short-Range Communication) band, which spans from 5.850 GHz to 5.925 GHz for vehicle-to-vehicle/Everything (V2V/V2X) communication. To make the size compact, we employ a Complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) beneath each patch. This enhances the isolation between the antenna elements up to 24.31 dB along with a 7 dB gain. The proposed antenna also exhibits good ECC and diversity performance which has been verified by simulation. The designed and fabricated MIMO antenna is suitable for Vehicle to vehicle communication applications due to its compact size and good isolation.
