Thermal Improvement of an Axially Forced Air-Cooled Motor with Axial Air Deflector

In this paper, an axial air deflector is proposed to improve the heat dissipation capacity of an axially forced air-cooled motor. The global fluid-temperature field prediction is conducted by the numerical analysis method. And the calculation results are verified through experiments, and the relative error between the calculated value and the measured value is 4.4%. On this basis, the cooling strengthening mechanism of the axial air deflector is studied by numerical analysis, and its cooling strengthening effect is verified. After installing the axial air guide plate, the fluid flow condition in the end space is improved, and the maximum temperature rise and average temperature rise of the stator winding are reduced by 2.5 K and 1.7 K, respectively.
