Experimental Study on the Performance of Conductive Polyolefin Coated Metal Grounding Materials

In response to the problem that the increase in grounding resistance and decrease in current dissipation capacity after corrosion of grounding grid materials can lead to grid faults, this article conducts experimental research on the electrochemical and corrosion resistance of three grounding materials, namely galvanized steel, copper, and conductive polyolefin coated metal, through on-site buried experiments and laboratory indoor simulation. The research results indicate that under long-term corrosive environments, the grounding resistance of conductive polyolefin coated metal grounding materials remains almost unchanged; In the absence of current, conductive polyolefin materials can hardly measure corrosion loss in corrosive environments, while the corrosion rate of galvanized steel is 3-4 times that of copper; Under the same current, the corrosion rate of conductive polyolefin materials in corrosive environments is only 1/30 of that of galvanized steel and 1/20 of that of copper; Conductive polyolefin do not produce corrosion products during the corrosion process, which will not lead to a decrease in the grounding performance of the grounding material. This research result can provide certain reference significance for the material selection of ground grids.
