Development and Test of a Cathodic Protection Testing System for Buried Pipeline

The implementation of a cathodic protection system is a crucial preventive measure against corrosion in underground pipelines. However, the presence of a highly electromagnetic interference environment in our country compromises the efficacy of the cathodic protection system, leading to the erosion of the pipeline's external anti-corrosion layer and subsequent corrosion of the pipeline itself, thereby resulting in significant calamities. To enhance the detection of the cathodic protection voltage in pipelines, a novel cathodic protection detection system has been developed specifically for buried pipelines in complex environments. The system underwent testing in both laboratory and simulated test site environments, and was compared against foreign equipment. The findings indicate that the detection system exhibits a high level of accuracy and possesses robust capabilities for detecting and mitigating electromagnetic interference. Consequently, it serves as a valuable complement to the existing array of detection methods.
