Improving Distribution Network Voltage Stability through Battery Energy Storage System

This paper investigates using a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to improve the voltage stability of distribution networks. The study includes simulations performed using DIgSILENT PowerFactory software to evaluate the effectiveness of BESS in mitigating voltage fluctuations and maintaining the network's voltage within acceptable limits. The simulation results demonstrate that the deployment of BESS can effectively improve the voltage stability of the network by reducing voltage fluctuations and voltage deviations. Furthermore, the modified IEEE 33 bus network was used to evaluate the efficacy of the proposed solution. This study's findings indicate that using BESS can be an effective and efficient solution for improving the voltage stability of distribution networks.
