Limitations of the Optical FBMC Multi-Beam Transmission in Optical Fiber Communications

To the most researched optical signal processing techniques examined for next-generation optical networks belongs the FBMC format. This contribution introduces a proposal for the new optical multi-beam transmission in the optical fiber environment by using the FBMC modulation in close touch with a multi-state OQAM technique. For the analysis of the optical FBMC multi-beam transmission, we adapted the OFC simulation platform for optical fiber communications. Simulation results indicate that the optical FBMC multi-beam transmission has specific limitations in its implementation and, simultaneously, promises certain perspectives for achieving more effective signal transmissions in optical fiber communication systems.
