Automated Image Recognition for Consumer Behavior Analysis: Histogram of Orientation Gradient

The growth of technology is currently progressing at a rapid pace, and it is undeniable that both small and large entrepreneurs are leveraging technology as a tool to gain a competitive advantage. One example of this is the use of technology to promote products or services, enabling access to specific customer groups and providing convenient contact methods for customers. Considering this, a researcher has developed a program to track the gender and age demographics of people who utilize the services or purchase products at an exhibition. The aim is to gather information that can be utilized for market research, product development, service enhancement, product placement, and pricing adjustments to better cater to consumer needs. In analyzing the market, the organizer can use the Marketing Mix concept, commonly known as the 4Ps - Price, Place, Product, and Promotion. The program under development will utilize a webcam to capture the movements of consumers availing the service. The captured footage will be further processed using Image Processing techniques, including the Histogram of Orientation Gradient, the Support Vector Machine algorithm, and the Face Detector function developed in Python. The program boasts an accuracy rate of 80.00%.
