Research on NOTAM Information Extraction of Civil Aviation with NLP

NOTAM is a notice issued by designated agencies in various countries or regions through telecommunications regarding the establishment and change of any navigational facilities, services, procedures or hazards. Airlines need to continuously monitor the NOTAM information of the country or region where the flight passes during flight operations. With the rapid development of the civil aviation industry, airlines need to pay more attention to NOTAM and extracting NOTAM information takes up a lot of human resources and time. To solve this problem, NLP is applied to the automated information extraction of the NOTAM system. A classification and hierarchical structure for NOTAM information (CHNI) is designed, and a NOTAM information extraction model (NIE) based on Bi-LSTM+CRF is constructed. NIE extracts NOTAM from the navigation information system and performs CHNI processing. The validity of the model is verified based on NOTAM in Chinese Mainland.
