Improved Tip Speed Ratio Control for Doubly-fed Wind Turbine Based on BP Neural Network

The tip speed ratio control method is used for the control of doubly-fed wind turbines to achieve fast power tracking of the generator. Due to the time delay of wind speed measurement, it is usually unable to reach the maximum power point in a timely manner. This article proposes a BP neural network-based wind speed prediction method using time series, which does not require wind speed measurement. To achieve rapid tracking of the maximum power point, an improved blade tip speed ratio control method based on BP neural network was adopted. Simulation analysis demonstrated that this method can achieve good dynamic and steady-state characteristics in tracking the maximum power point under varying wind speeds.
