Context and Traffic Aware Improved Geographical Routing Protocol for Vehicular Adhoc Networks

Vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) is a trending technology which can able to connect huge vehicles to achieve effective communication in Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) based applications in safer communication purposes. In VANETs, communication among the vehicles is achieved in dynamic way where the destination has to be in the coverage area of the source vehicle. To attain long distance communication among the vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure (V-I) and infrastructure-to-infrastructure (I-I) based data transmission is initiated for the longer network where frequent link failure and fast changing topology issues are occurred. To overcome this drawback an effective routing protocol is needed for that purpose in this research Context and Traffic Aware Improved Geographical Routing Protocol (CTAIGR) is proposed which mainly concentrates on reliable communication process and improved geographical routing protocol. Reliable communication model is mainly used to achieve maximum delivery ratio between vehicles communication and as well parameters based improved geographical routing is introduced here to improve the backend routing among the vehicles. Through this proffered routing the overall communication quality of the vehicles at the time of data transmission is increased. To analysis the performance of the proffered CTAIGR in practical term the software NS2 is used which is combined with SUMO mobility generator for the real time traffic analysis. The parameters which are taken into consideration for the simulation are message delivery ratio, average dissipation delay, throughput and routing overhead and as well the results are compared with the earlier research like SPADR and VDPRP. For the results it is observed that the CTAIGR routing protocol attain better performance than the earlier methods under vehicular communication.
