Abstract:
Covid-19 caused many economic and non-financial damages for the community and economy. Its severity and level as a pandemic case vary over the region, and because of different types of projects. So, it has become one of the world's most important risk management factors in recent years. In fact, the ongoing pandemic has been the main cause of delays in Middle East projects. All industries are suffering a severe impact. Construction is a sector that cannot be moved to a remote operation mode and as such, it is the most susceptible to infection by coronavirus. The study focuses on analyzing COVID 19, as it is the largest contributor to Bahrain's economy. The study selected ten companies that have 60 construction projects in the Bahraini construction sector. A questionnaire data was collected for analysis and discussion to show the impact of Covid-19 on the estimated costs of construction projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It was found an increase in the total estimated cost ranging from (40%-60%) for 20% of both delayed and deferred projects. In contrast, 20% of the completely suspended projects, there was a percentage increase in the estimated total cost ranged from (60%-80%).
