Smart Attendance System - CountMe

This article discusses the development of a system for facilitating the registration of student attendance in lectures, exercises, and laboratory sessions - CountMe, which has been tested in the “Java Programming” courses at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Plovdiv University. The system implements a quick way to register attendance by shifting the time-consuming manual tasks from the instructor to the students. This is made possible through the widespread use of mobile smart devices, which, using QR codes, reduce the registration process to a few seconds. The system also provides attendance statistics for individual events as well as for groups of events, making it a convenient tool for instructors. The architecture and implementation of the system are briefly outline.
