Multibeam Data Curation and Access Through the Global Multi-Resolution Topography (GMRT) Synthesis

The Global Multi-Resolution Topography (GMRT) Synthesis is a publicly available Digital Elevation Model (DEM) supported by a suite of tools that enable access to quality-controlled gridded multi-resolution elevation data. GMRT unites multiple ocean and terrestrial elevation sources, combining high-resolution bathymetry and low-resolution predicted bathymetry for the oceans, and delivering seamlessly-integrated global elevation data at multiple resolutions in a variety of formats. GMRT is accessible through a variety of tools and interfaces and provides full attribution and access to data sources through an extensive metadata catalog. The suite of tools used for GMRT data curation ensure that processed multibeam data are fit-for-purpose and can be readily integrated with pre-existing data. These tools are distributable and can be used to help accelerate the pace of high-resolution global bathymetry data processing and integration, while minimizing redundant data processing efforts.
