Design and Implementation of Static VAR Compensator Prototype for transmission line system

The energy crisis is still a major challenge that both developed and developing countries are facing in the current era. The Countries of South Asia still need to expand and ensure electricity reliability. As more people are connected to the grid, demand of electricity is set to increase rapidly over the coming decades. In Electrical Engineering, Power Factor is the measure of how effectively the incoming power is used in an electrical system. Power factor correction is vital in this society because its two main key benefits are power system stability and reduced power cost. This paper responds to the concern by presenting a solution from the realm of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS): Static VAR Compensator (SVC). The Static VAR Compensator is a technology that can regulate voltage and improve system stability in electrical power systems. An SVC uses power electronics to provide fast and accurate control over reactive power, making it an effective solution for maintaining voltage stability and improving power quality. Its application has become increasingly important in modern power systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation. This paper aims to explain the deployment of SVCs specifically in Medium and long transmission lines, underlining their potential to enhance transmission efficiency and power quality.
