Full duplex Radio over Fiber Transport System Using a DP-MZM

Radio Over Fiber (RoF) system is a systematization in which a radio wave is converted into a light signal by modulating a light source with an RF signal. There are no digitalizations; the process is entirely analog. Radio over fiber systems are currently garnering a lot of attention due to their low signal loss, ease of installation, cost, and other considerations. Thus high quality 20 Gbps QAM signal and 20 Gbps PSK signal are created successfully and channelled over 50 km along the fiber. By exploring the dual polarisation Mach-Zehnder modulator, this work focuses on the design and implementation of a full duplex radio over fiber system. By utilizing an interleaver having a frequency spacing of 1 GHz, it is possible to reduce the power loss while channelling the signals through the fiber and there by enhancing the transmission distance upto 50 km. QAM modulation format is employed for the first time to generate a full duplex radio over fiber system by incorporating a dual polarization MZ modulator (DP MZM).
