A Glance On Various Image Denoising Techniques

Since more and more digital images are being shot every day, there is an increase in demand for images that are more precise and aesthetically beautiful. But noise continually reduces the clarity of the visual images taken by the cameras that are now available. Therefore, efforts must be made to handle edges, corners and other sharp elements independently in order to extract useful information without degrading visual quality. Until now academics have presented a wide range of noise reduction strategies in an effort to eliminate noise while maintaining the image’s characteristics. The advantages and disadvantages of each technique vary acccordingly. This paper summarizes some of the important image denoising techniques and their feature research. Furthermore, the paper presents the various evaluation metrics used for performance evaluation of different techniques.
