Application of D8 Algorithm and Bernoulli Equation for Modeling Surface Water Flow Distribution

Modeling the distribution of water flow is a field of computer graphics science that examines the pattern of water movement from high places to low places. The benefit of this modeling is to find out the pattern of water movement, which can result in the accumulation of water if there is continuous rain resulting in an overflow of water, known as flooding. This paper aims to produce an overview of the movement of surface water flow by applying the multiple flow direction (MFD) method to predict the spread of water flow. Bernoulli's law determines the speed of water flow moving from the origin pixel to other neighboring pixels. The concept of cellular automata is used to regulate cell movement in a consistent, systematic, and structured manner. The test in this study is a digital elevation model (DEM) map dataset, which represents the surface elevation of the area. This study produces an output in the form of a system that can provide an overview of the distribution of surface water flow by applying Bernoulli's law which is used to determine the velocity of water flow, and the MFD method aims to provide certainty of the direction of flow when flowing from one pixel to another.
