IOECCH: Improved Optimized Energy-Efficient Connected Coverage Heuristic Algorithm in WSNs

Target points coverage in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is affected by random deployment of sensor nodes; which could lead to coverage hole problem in the network area. In this paper, an Improved Optimized Energy Efficient Connected Coverage Heuristic (IOECCH) algorithm is proposed to achieve target points coverage contribution with increasing network lifetime. Sensor nodes are divided into sensing nodes and relaying nodes to perform interconnected coverage sets. Simulation results illustrate that IOECCH can increase network lifetime compared to other algorithms.
