An Integrated Technique for Detecting Seven-Segment Digits on Medical Devices

Biometric information is generated by many medical devices. It can be time-consuming to manually collect biometric data from medical equipment. A seven-segment digit is typically displayed on medical devices like blood pressure monitors, glucometers, digital scales, etc. For large datasets of biometric data, seven-segment digits from medical devices are automatically analyzed using computer image processing. This research aims to identify seven-segment digit screens on medical equipment. The seven-segment screen detection using deep learning is the first step of the intentional method. The seven segment digit positions are then located using a variety of image processing techniques and parameters. Utilizing 200 seven-segment digit images, experimental results were reported with an accuracy (F-measure) of 94%.
