An Intelligent Mobile Application for Helping Alzheimer Patients

People suffering with Alzheimer disease (Dementia) usually have gradual decline of mental functions and overall personality including cognitive problems. They gradually lose their skills, as well as other executive abilities and mental functioning like planning, judgment, abstract thinking and psychiatric disorders such as agitation, delusions and depression are very common in patients with dementia. In Saudi Arabia, the prevalence rate for Dementia's disease is increasing and deserves due attention and urgent addressing. The objective of this work is to support Dementia patients to be a part of society and live without any problems. We propose an intelligent mobile application (Deme Assist) which includes several features like recording human vitals like heart rate, blood pressure, stress and sugar level measurements, location detection to receive appropriate assistance from the caregiver or their medical practitioner. The application aims to enhance the patients' ability to perform daily tasks with the help of embedded periodical notification feature within the application and provide the ability to manage their task effectively. The location detection feature offers safety to the patients and one can track them so that they are not lost thereby the caregiver could monitor their exact location. The application will send the regularly monitored data of human vitals to the caregiver and it will be reviewed to make instant medication and any emergency action.
