Automatic Reverse Parking Algorithm for Inter-Vehicle Spaces Using Rear 2D Lidar

This paper presents an automatic reverse parking algorithm utilizing a rear 2D lidar sensor, aimed at achieving precise parking between two vehicles. The algorithm leverages the angle bisector of the sector formed by the two vehicles and employs distance measurements from the lidar to optimize parking accuracy. The proposed approach focuses on the algorithmic aspects post-space detection, emphasizing the real-time coordination of steering and speed control. The experimental results demonstrate consistent success across multiple trials, showcasing the algorithm's ability to achieve collision-free and accurate parking between vehicles. This research contributes to the advancement of autonomous parking technology, particularly in scenarios involving constrained parking spaces.
