Intelligent and Integratable Braking Solution for Vehicles

With modernization in today’s world, transportation is being an integral part of life. Weather to go for work, or to go for some entertainment purposes, one always prefers to go by road. With increases in demand of road trips, the traffic density enhances to a dangerous level. This causes increase in accidental rate. High-end have been integrated with autonomous breaking system. However, it is quite expensive and cannot be integrated after production of vehicles or automobiles. In this research, a novel, cheap and effective Intelligent Universal Autonomous Emergency Braking (IUAEB) system is presented. In emergency situations, where the driver is unable or incapacitated to apply brakes on time, the proposed system can automatically intervene and apply brakes to ensure the safety of all passengers. The proposed system differs from commercial Inbuilt Autonomous Braking Systems in many aspects including its motor type used for actuation. Unlike Electro-Hydraulic motors used in commercial Electric Autonomous Braking Systems, the proposed system employs a DC motor with a crank-slider mechanism that simplifies the system, makes it more economical, and allows for universal installation in any type of vehicle equipped with hydraulic braking systems. Additionally, the use of shuttle valves enables the proposed system to function independently of manual braking, and a bypass switch is provided in case of brake failure due to the master-cylinder. The proposed system is based on ultrasonic sensors, further enhancing its effectiveness in accident prevention. The system has potential to be integrated with emerging technologies including Autonomous Electric Vehicles.
