Performance Analysis of NG-PON2 with DWDM-FSO System with Eight Wavelengths and 80Gbps Data Rate

This study focuses on a hybrid network architecture called DWDM-FSO with NG-PON2, which combines dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) and free space optics (FSO) with next generation passive optical networks (NG-PON2). The objective is to evaluate system performance under various weather conditions, including clear air, fog, rain and haze, at distances from 1 to 5 km. The network uses eight channels and achieves a data rate of 80Gbps. The study evaluates transmission quality using key metrics such as bit error rate (BER), Q-factor, and eye chart performance. These measurements provide valuable insights into the network’s ability to ensure reliable and efficient data transmission across different weather scenarios.
