Analysis of Standards for Electricity Advanced Metering Infrastructure in the Housing Sector

The development of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) has gained a significant increase in the housing sector due to its ability to enhance energy efficiency and enable energy management. The AMI offers consumers real-time information on power consumption while providing reliability, better quality, and cost-effectiveness. However, the absence of standardized guidelines for electricity AMI presents a challenge for seamless interoperability between devices from different vendors. Standards refer to the set of rules, specifications, guidelines, and characteristics that have been defined and approved by authorized organizations. Adopting standards for electricity AMI is crucial, as applying these standards facilitates efficient development and management of AMI systems. This paper overviews the features of AMI and analyzes standard trends. As a result, it provides a standard strategy for tackling the challenges associated with electricity AMI.
