Prototype experimental environment using actual equipment for remote control security verification

In control systems, Ethernet, a communication method over the Internet, is increasingly used for cost reduction and interoperability. On the other hand, there are aspects that increase the risk of cyber attacks, incidents, and tampering with communications. Although verification using actual equipment is effective for verifying the impact of cyber attacks and incidents, verification using systems and equipment in operation is not realistic from the standpoint of the cost of building an environment. In this report, we introduce a case study in which the management network of a lighting system in operation at the University of Electro-Communications was separated and used for experiments, with the aim of verifying the impact of cyber attacks and incidents using actual equipment.
