A Wideband Millimeter-Wave Dual-Polarized Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna With a High Isolation Level

In this paper, a dual-polarized magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna is presented for millimeter-wave (mmW) wireless applications. The antenna element is composed of four metallic patches loaded with metallic vias, coupling slots, and two sets of feeding lines distributed on different copper cladding layers. Two kinds of orthogonal polarized waves can be produced conveniently by exciting feeding structures printed on different layers. The proposed antenna possesses an impedance bandwidth of 25.2% (26.05 - 33.62 GHz). Also, a high isolation level of more than 45 dB can be achieved, thus making the presented dual-polarized element a promising candidate for mmW applications.
