Evaluation of Load Balancing Systems for Urban-Macro Mobile Network Based on Social Context

This article focuses on evaluating load balancing systems in urban-macro mobile networks. The study employs fuzzy logic controllers to optimize load balancing by managing inequality load using handover margins (HOM), transmission power, and antenna inclination angle (TILT). A key consideration is the presence of a crowding point referred to as the “venue”, where resource allocation problems make sense and the need for better cell reselection technique is evident. The purpose is to dynamically adjust load distribution based on the social context, particularly the congestion level at the venue. The research was entirely conducted through simulations using MATLAB and results show that HOM combined with social context obtains better fairness response for cell center crowded scenarios. Furthermore, the use of aggressive power changes reveals a lower number of users per server cell in cell edge location.
