Performance of NOMA over Shadowed Fading Channels with Impact of Co-channel Interference

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) holds great promise for future wireless communications. This study investigates the inter- and intra-cell interference’s effects on the multi-user (MU) NOMA-based communication system’s outage performance. We initially checked for interference from neighbouring Voronoi cells to assess the likelihood of an outage before accounting for different channel propagation effects including fading, shadowing, and a combination of the two. We start with Rayleigh fading and log-normal shadowing to get a closed-form formula for the outage probability. We determine the outage for two users, such as a nearby user and an edge user, in a Voronoi cell. The resulting expressions are usefull for evaluating the effects of interference on the operation of the NOMA system with various fading and shadowing characteristics. The findings are quite gratifying in contrast to the simulated NOMA.
