Fabrication of Energy Efficient Single Junction Photovoltaic Cell with Nanostructured Zinc Oxide (ZnO) based Antireflection Coating and performance Comparison with Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) based Antireflection Coated Cell

The detailed study on this research includes in the fabrication of Zinc oxide based photovoltaic cells with efficiency enhancement using Finite Difference Time Domain Technique comparing the efficiency of Zinc oxide based photovoltaic cell with Indium tin oxide based photovoltaic cells at different cell thickness ranges from 40 nm to 600 nm. The two configurations of the single junction photovoltaic cell are ZnO and ITO as Antireflection coating. Each group consists of 15 samples which are simulated using a nano hub simulation tool. Group 1 is a ZnO based PV cell and Group 2 is ITO based PV cell. The G power calculation is carried out with the required number of samples with a minimum power fixed at a confident interval of 80% and permissible error of 5%. On simulating both solar cell devices by using nano hub online simulation tool, the efficiency of the ZnO based single junction photovoltaic cell is 20.37 % and 18.91 % for the ITO based single junction photovoltaic cell. The significance is 0.003. From the extensive works, it is observed that Single junction photovoltaic cells with ZnO as an anti-reflection coating shows higher performance than ITO based single junction photovoltaic cells.
