A Review of Inventory Management Research in Transport and Logistics

The significant growth of the transportation and logistics industry in recent years has enhanced the importance of inventory management. The objective of this study is to review the body of knowledge on inventory management in logistics and transportation while highlighting the key developments and trends in the sector. This review is based on publications found in the Scopus database and covers the years 2010 through 2021. Inventory management is described in the paper's introduction along with its role in logistics and transportation. Following that, the major findings of the reviewed research are compiled, with a focus on supply chain management, inventory control, and inventory optimization. The paper is concluded with a discussion of the potential possibilities for future research in this area, including the need for a stronger focus on real-world applications and the development of fresh approaches to inventory management in logistics and transportation.
