Design, Simulation and Analysis of 3.5 GHz Microstrip Patch Antenna for Wireless Communication Systems

This study focuses on designing and analyzing a microstrip patch antenna that operates at 3.5 GHz, specifically for wireless communication systems. Rogers RT5880 (lossy) has a dielectric permittivity of 2.2 and a loss tangent of 0.0009 and has been used as a substrate material to design the antenna. Besides, CST Studio software has been used to create and simulate the antenna. There is a lot of antenna design software; special software is CST, HFSS, MATLAB, FEKO, ADS, and others. Among them, CST software is the most widely used antenna design, and the results are comparatively better than other software. The results obtained from the designed simulation show that return loss, VSWR, gain, directivity, bandwidth, and efficiency are -28.29 dB, 1.0801, 5.437 dBi, 6.442dBi, and 111.7 MHz, respectively. The main focus of said research is to reduce return loss and VSWR. That is to develop a standard VSWR whose value is close to 1 and less than 2. Besides, increasing the gain and directivity of the antenna and improving the efficiency. Efficiency accounted for 84.39% of the total. The design could be used in future wireless LANs applications because of their good impedance matching, gain, return loss, VSWR, Bandwidth and accuracy.
