Assessing the effectiveness of routing protocols in Opportunistic Network: the multiple-copy case

The wireless networks have made everyone’s lifestyle sophisticated, convenient and comfortable. Over time, a type of wireless network, the Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) has evolved which is infrastructure-less network. A variant of Mobile ad-hoc network, the Delay tolerant network (DTN) is intermittently connected mobile network characterized by delay in the network services. A sub-type of Delay tolerant network, the Opportunistic Network (OppNet), provides services through mobile nodes which come into contact, opportunistically. Hence, the routing in Opportunistic Network becomes a challenge. The work presents an insight to assess effectiveness of flooding-based routing protocols with performance metrics specifically tailored for Opportunistic Network.
