Performance Evaluation of AOMDV Intelligent Decision Routing Algorithm for VANETs

VANET is one of the most challenging areas of research based on speedy communication services. However, these networks are suffered with some congestion, security issues and routing especially in metropolitan areas and basis of delay and computational complexities issues and pilot to delay packet delivery or data overcrowding. The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and Unmanned Ariel Vehicles (UAV) or drones are facilitating VANET by collecting the data from mobile nodes and forward to the backbone architecture or to the Road Side Units (RSU) for decision making. VANET is based on multi-hop wireless access network where nodes can act both as a router as well as a host. One of the factors that control the concert of VANET is the core routing protocol used. Therefore, numbers of diverse multipath routing protocols are projected in recent years. This paper addresses the necessity of instantaneous transfer and self healing under high speed movement or route breakage in multipath routing in VANET. In this perspective we propose an intelligent decision based AOMDV protocol (AOMDVID), aiming to exploit the benefit of multipath routing algorithm to attain improved performance. The proposed protocol is tested in terms of packet loss ratio, routing overhead and packet delivery ratio in the presence of different number of nodes and velocities. The proposed AOMDV-ID achieved the high performance in certain scenarios as compared to existing AOMDV.
