SUTRA : Methodology and Sign-off

VLSI technology is specifically tailored to meet the requirements of contemporary electronic devices and systems. Although the ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) flow methodology offers numerous benefits, it also entails certain drawbacks that companies must consider. Therefore, it is crucial for organizations to carefully assess the advantages and disadvantages to determine the methodology's suitability for their specific project requirements. In light of the persistent drive for miniaturization, improved performance, reliability, and expanded functionality in the electronics industry, VLSI technology is poised to lead the way in driving future innovations. This progress necessitates the development of a methodology that is simpler, easily comprehensible, and adaptable to efficiently implement the desired designs. To address these needs, a simplified and automated methodology has been developed to target any RTL (register-transfer level) design for a specific technology while adhering to the desired constraints. This methodology comprises a streamlined flow for synthesis and physical design within the ASIC flow, along with an automated technique for implementing it. Furthermore, timing sign-off is performed to verify that the design meets the required timing specifications and functions correctly. Detailed reports summarizing the results are generated in HTML format for easy accessibility and convenience. By employing this methodology, any RTL design can be processed as input, leading to the generation of a routed layout as the output. This approach simplifies the design process, enhances automation, and facilitates the achievement of desired design goals in a more efficient manner.
