A Novel IoT Based Smart Parking Solution

With an increase in the population, there is a lot of increase in vehicles and road congestion is a major problem. The driver usually wastes his time and efforts in search of the availability of free parking space in a specified parking area. This project helps us to provide an efficient and smart way to automate parking space management. The proposed project consists of an on-site deployment of an IoT module that will be able to monitor and signalise parking space availability. A web application is also developed to allow an end user to see the parking scenario and check the availability of the parking slots at a particular date & time and pre-book a parking slot if it is empty. A smart payment service is also provided to collect charges from the user for parking. A Pi camera is interfaced with the raspberry pi in order to capture the image of the car and extract the number plate of the car and check whether it has a reservation slot or not.
