Air Pollution Monitoring & Prediction System for Ahmedabad Region using IOT and ML

Humanity would not be able to survive without air. Daily industrial, transportation, and domestic activities churn up dangerous toxins in our environment. Monitoring and predicting air quality are now essential, especially in developing countries like India. A system is suggested in this work that employs the MQ-131, GP2Y1010-AU0F, MQ-9, MQ-135, DHT11, 110-601-SO2, and MiCS-2714 to monitor the concentration of air pollutants NH3, O3, NO2, CO, PM2.5, PM10, temperature, SO2 and uses ESP8266 data sent to the cloud. The next phase was applying the Linear regression and ARIMA models to accurately predict the pollution levels from hazardous gases and the Air Quality Index (AQI) for the ensuing seven days. We accurately predicted the observations of the following 7 days after training our best model using data of preceding 60 days. This indicates that our model's accuracy in correctly predicting the values for all the parameters is close to 90% or higher. Therefore, we believe that such a solution would be advantageous if a large-scale installation were to be made. By allowing users to check the air quality remotely, this initiative, which is being developed for Ahmedabad City, will contribute to a decrease in the quantity of pollution in the atmosphere.
