An IoT Based Arduino - Nano Driven Smart Shopping Cart

A shopping center or supermarket is a location where a variety of items are offered in one location, which has in fact made our lives simpler and more convenient. However, the process of standing in long queues at the bill counters to get the products billed and to make the payment is very time consuming and frustrating. Online shopping is now very attractive to people because of the wide variety and low cost of purchasing, but also quickly compare to offline shopping. In that situation we provide smartness in shopping and payment of bill that alone can make people look back to shopping centers and supermarkets for offline shopping. Therefore, we introduce an IoT-based Arduino Nano smart shopping cart with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID-sensors), and a Wi-Fi module can be utilized as an alternative to the bar code scanning procedure to solve this issue. The RFID tags or stickers which are attached to the products will be scanned by the RFID sensors present on the cart and the information about the product like price, quantity and name will be seen on the LCD screen of the cart in addition gets stored in the mobile application of the customer. The entire purchase information will be sent to the shop owner’s server wirelessly by using Wi-Fi module. Finally the bill payment will be done by any UPI-ID in smart way. This smart shopping cart eliminates the need for a billing counter, reduces time and creates a convenient shopping experience for a customer.
