Investigating DPST high school students' responses in a STEM activity: How to measure tomato ripeness

The STEM activity: How to measure tomato ripeness allow DPST students to apply what they already learned from laboratory enrichment subjects in physics, biology, chemistry, technology, and mathematics to solve it. Participants were 10^th high school graders of DPST in academic year 2021 and 2022. The objectives of the research are: (1) How did the students use their learned knowledge in laboratory enrichment subjects to tackle the question: how to measure tomato ripeness? (2) What were strengths and weaknesses of students' projects? Results show that students' responses in the STEM activity demonstrated their application of knowledge and skills from the laboratory enrichment subjects to the activity with the use of multiple and single subjects to tackle the problem. The groups of students in 2021 performed better at identifying problems and selecting measurement. Nevertheless, students of academic year 2022 did better on planning and executing a project based on scientific knowledge.
