Automatic Solid Waste Collection Prototype From Drainage Pipe Based On Solar Energy

This research aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the automatic solid waste collection prototype from drainage pipe based on solar energy in order to decrease the amount of debris in the river. The main concepts of this proposed prototype are to filter the solid waste from the drainage pipe and transfer them into the proper container. Two types of system controls, which are the automatic control and the manual control, were proposed. Both control systems were carefully designed to use the renewable energy stored in the battery in order to improve system's capability in the night time. The experimental results show that both control systems of the proposed prototype perfectly function. For the manual control, the proposed machine can operate anytime depending on user's needs and can effectively filter most of the solid waste before flowing into the river. For the automatic control, the DC motor can only run under conditions that infrared proximity sensors detected solid waste on the belt conveyor and the waste level in the container is lower than the threshold level. Thus, the detected solid waste will be moved to the container by the belt conveyor. Therefore, the benefit of automatic control system can maintain the heat causing by running motor because the belt conveyor will be driven for 15 seconds each time. By using Line application, the alert system can function at 100% accuracy.
