Role of IOT in Healthcare Inclusion in Developing Countries: A Systematic Literature Review

The enhanced digitalization in the healthcare industry has made healthcare accessible to under-privileged populations of the developing nations. Some of the recent phenomena that is evidence of this digitalization includes telemedicine, emergence of smart wearables, remote patient monitoring, online disease diagnosis, use of advanced technology in preventive healthcare, emerging data management and security solution. This has led to an improved scenario from the past when the access to quality healthcare was out of reach for the major populations in developing countries. This study reviews the existence literature on IOT in developing countries and analyses the same to state the achievements of the existing research, and future research directions that can enable counter the concerns related to healthcare accessibility, quality, security, privacy and affordability. This literature review also captures the limitations in the existing studies and advocates for more improvised channeling of technological advancements in healthcare.
