The Use of AI Chatbots in Mental Healthcare for University Students in Thailand: A Case Study

The use of computers to simulate human intelligence and learn from data is known as artificial intelligence (AI). AI has a wide range of applications, including mental healthcare, which aims to improve mental health and treat mental illnesses. This study investigates the use of artificial intelligence chatbots as a potential tool to supplement or replace traditional treatment for university students in Thailand suffering from mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. The study discovered that, while there is interest in deploying AI chatbots for mental health support, there are significant concerns about personal data privacy and security. Users have varying preferences for how they interact with the application, emphasizing the importance of user-friendly design and a variety of communication options. According to the study, addressing concerns around privacy and tailoring design to user preferences are essential for the effective implementation of AI chatbots as a tool for mental health support among university students in Thailand.
