Antenna Selection in Energy Harvesting NOMA Networks

Energy harvesting (EH) non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks exploit the advantages of both EH and NOMA for high energy efficiency and spectral efficiency. To further improve these efficiencies as well as communication reliability, the deployment of multiple antennas at the NOMA transmitter is necessary so as for it to collect more energy from the power transmitter and perform the antenna selection. This paper analyzes the throughput of the proposed antenna selection scheme in EH NOMA networks under realistic EH paradigm and general wireless channels. Various results demonstrate that the characteristic of EH drastically deteriorates communication reliability. Additionally, EH NOMA networks may suffer the worst performance for improper specification selection. In addition, increasing the quantity of antennas ameliorates network performance significantly. Furthermore, the antenna selection influences dramatically the performance gap between NOMA terminals.
