The Problem of Renewable Energy Sources and Market Mechanisms in Various Energy Systems in the Era of Global Crises

The energy crisis, which began in the third quarter of 2021 and continues in 2023, has demonstrated the instability and fragility of the European Union (EU) energy system being built on the basis of renewable energy sources (RES), decentralization, market pricing mechanisms and accelerated deindustrialization. However, this situation is observed not only in the EU, but also in Asia (in Japan and Singapore). It is the high share of renewable energy sources in the generating structure of the EU leads to the fact that prices can be abnormally high or ultra-low, which demonstrates the failure in the reforms of the energy transition to a new energy order, where the stake is not on stable, predictable, high-quality and affordable generation, but on the basis of intermittent, expensive, unstable and poor-quality generation of solar and wind power plants. However, in times of crisis, governments around the world begin to limit the pricing of energy and electricity in order to reduce the impact of the energy crisis on life. State regulation is necessary to overcome the current crisis, despite the reforms of 2009–2010, which have shown their unviability in the context of a complex systemic decline that affects different spheres of life. The recession of the world economy, oil, gas, energy, inflation, food, political and social crises form our harsh reality - the Era of Global Crises. Whose echoes were recorded back in 2019, long before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. When all physical indicators showed a contraction in the global economy. The energy crisis and the mistake in the strategic planning of energy security create the conditions under which the European Union will lose its premium position for producing countries in the current decade. And the migration of industry to the United States and Asia shortens the window of opportunity to overcome crises. The only way to overcome the crisis is to switch to nuclear energy, which requires political will and strategic planning.
