Restoration of the hippocampal CA1 area activity by close-loop adaptive stimulation

The main idea of the project is to integrate an artificial neural network, implemented as an electronic circuit, with microcircuits of the living brain. Depending on the set of input signals, an artificial neural network can produce adaptive generation of electrical signals. We assume that such artificial network, trained using learning algorithms, will be able to simulate brain activity at the cellular-network level. Such neuromorphic system can be used to extend the functions of the brain system or to replace functions lost as a result of pathology or injury.
