Design and Implementation of a Suburban Signal Traffic Control and Management System in the Field of Informatics

Traffic congestion remains as a significant challenge in today’s society, even though there are effective methods for managing it, the existing methods are costly and time-consuming to install and maintain. This research study proposes to integrate Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), with existing signaling systems for performing real-time traffic management, reducing congestion and saving both time and money for drivers. SUMO simulation platform is used to provide a realistic view of moving vehicles and coordinate with vehicular survey values. In this study, a heavy traffic suburban region is taken into consideration, and with the help of an open source software, suggestions are provided.
