A Hybrid Method for Array Antenna Pattern Synthesis Based on Genetic Algorithm and Adjacent Array Elements Constraints

An innovative methodology based on genetic algorithms for array antenna pattern optimization is proposed. The methodology contains two steps: Firstly, two adjacent array elements are bonded by assuming them with identical feeding information, which means the unknown parameters of the antenna array are reduced into half. Then, a genetic algorithm is implemented to get a set of optimization parameters. Secondly, based on the parameters obtained above, the feeding information of the adjacent array elements are unbundled, and then the previous parameters are optimized in a small range with a genetic algorithm to obtain the final optimization. Numerical simulation indicates this method is suitable for large antenna array optimization, capable of effectively achieving better radiation results.
